Sometimes in our lives we are fortunate enough to be in (what i call),  THE VIBE.

Put your toes at the tip of the bow. Have you ever been there?

 I have, I am blessed.

Overcast,  warm,  calm, vibe weather. It was just a nice morning to start up the engines and turn the boat around and back into the slip. But I decided to take “Roamer” out past the break-water into the bay for a short easy cruise. The bay was flat and there were no other boats out there yet. I noticed that Roamer seemed to need little or no guidance at the wheel, and thats when I got the idea.

Leaving my son Todd in charge, I made my way up to the bow. “Roamer”, classic sedan cruiser, length 34’ width 11’ twin v-8’s.  Engines in synch, listening to the musical comforting sound of four exhaust ports.  I put my feet to the very edge of the bow, and looking down saw  the water moving gently beneath us. Roamer was running rock steady, and I raised my eyes  to the horizon and then to the sky, and thats when I realized what a magic moment I was in. I am flying! I am floating across the water on a magic carpet. And it took a combination of all these wonderful things to make it be.

Looking back, I began to realize how many other times I was in the vibe, I just didn’t know it, when everything comes together and you own the world.

I motioned for Todd to join me at the bow, and together we enjoyed the magic as Roamer carried us safely on the bay with no one at the wheel.  But then, after a time, the “what ifs” crept into my thoughts, the doubts.  I’m thinking, look at the gauges, thats what there for! So I went back to check them, everything was fine, and thats when the vibe slipped away. I think that doubts or fears took over and the rest of our little trip was enjoyable, but just ordinary

So as I write my story it takes me back in time. And once again I am standing there on Roamers bow, overcast,  warm,  calm, I own the world.
